Chiropractic is a licenced, regulated, non-surgical, drugless form of health care. Working with the musculoskeletal system, which is made up of bones, muscles and nerves that work together to support the body to function. The problems that you may face day to day may be more than pain and discomfort but may even be affecting your ability to function at a higher level. Chiropractic is a form of increasing and promoting your health and wellbeing. Quick, precise adjustments are made to various bones and joints to improve alignment, enhance nervous system function, and support your body's natural healing process.
-
McTimoney is a specific chiropractic approach rooted in vitalism. It's distinguished by its gentle, whole-body method, making it ideal for all age groups, regardless of the main complaint. This technique involves assessing every person comprehensively to gather a solid foundation of information, ensuring that care is tailored to each individual's specific needs.
-
Adjustments are generally not painful, and McTimoney adjustments, in particular, are known for their light and gentle nature. While some discomfort may occur depending on the severity of the issue, patients typically feel a quick, sharp sensation with mild pressure, sometimes accompanied by a popping or cracking sound as gas is released from the joint. Overall, the McTimoney method is considered a more comfortable approach.
-
No, you do not have to be "cracked." The "crack" or "pop" that some people experience during an adjustment is simply the movement of air in the synovial fluid that surrounds and protects the joint. This sound is not necessary for an adjustment to be effective or for a correction to be made.
-
Whether chiropractic care can help you depends on your specific condition and health goals. Chiropractic care is often effective for a variety of musculoskeletal issues, neurological issues and many other conditions. Chiropractic care is widely recognised for its effectiveness in caring for those with both acute and chronic pain. Spinal adjustments can help alleviate pain, improve mobility, reduce inflammation and maintain good health.

The journey
Journey of your Care
1. New Patient Appointment
The new patient appointment is essential for starting the process of gathering key information for your plan of care. Before your telephone appointment, you'll complete a detailed health questionnaire to provide the necessary information.
2. Physical Assessment
The physical assessment completes the information-gathering process, enabling the chiropractor to diagnose, report, refer if necessary, and create a personalised plan of care. A physical assessment is completed in the clinic for the chiropractor to gather orthopaedic and neurological testing results.
3. Report of Findings
Once the chiropractor has had the opportunity to gather a detailed history and completed necessary testing. A detailed report of findings is prepared which includes a diagnosis, a plan of care and, if necessary, a referral with GP correspondence.
4. Plan of Care
The plan of care is a personalised tailored plan, unique to each individual. The chiropractor discusses a plan designed specifically for your needs, offering a schedule of visits over a period of time, this will vary between each person. Throughout the plan, you will receive chiropractic care, guidance, and support to help manage your health and promote your body’s natural healing process.
5. Review of Care
Each plan of care has a start, a middle and an end. Once this plan comes to an end a review is conducted to assess your progress and reflect on how well your journey has unfolded. This is where some may need to continue with more intensive care while others may transition to prophylactic care.
6. Ongoing Care
Ongoing care is a long-term, reduced care plan aimed at maintaining the progress you’ve achieved. This promotes long term benfits essential for individuals in all stages of life, helping you sustain balance, mobility, support mental health and helps prevent new or recurring injuries, contributing to a energetic, balanced, and successful lifestyle.

Long term benefits
Long Term Benefits of Chiropractic Care
Enhanced Mobility and Balance
Chiropractic care can significantly enhance mobility and balance, both of which are vital for overall physical well-being and reducing the risk of injury. Maintaining good mobility and balance is essential for performing daily activities, preserving independence, leading to a healthier active lifestyle for those with injury to their hips, knees or ankles. Additionally, for those without injuries, chiropractic care can enhance the performance for physically fit, athletic, and active individuals striving to achieve their goals.
Preventing Injuries
Chiropractic care plays a key role in preventing injuries by improving overall body alignment, enhancing joint mobility, balancing muscle function, and promoting better posture and biomechanics. Whether you're an athlete, an active person, or simply aiming to maintain your general health, incorporating chiropractic care can be a crucial component in injury prevention.
Improvement to Mental Health
Physical tension often correlates with mental stress, as discomfort in the body can exacerbate feelings of anxiety. Misalignments can cause disruptions in the nervous system, leading to increased stress responses, this is where chiropractic care directly influences the body by ensuring alignment, relieving tension, reducing stress and promotes a sense of relaxation. Correcting these misalignments helps restore balance to the nervous system, leading to decreased anxiety and a calmer state of mind.
